Rivervalley returns to the 2024 Simmentaler competition
Breeders are starting to finalise their entries for the stud cattle competitions at the 2024 Royal Agricultural Exhibition, and we are excited to welcome back Peter and Lucille Abrahamse of Rivervalley Simmentaler stud in Heidelberg to this year's Simmentaler championship, hosted by the KZN Simmentaler & Simbra Club.
Rivervalley has won the RAS Gold Cup for the Supreme Champion Beef Cow on Show for the past two years, and their Simmentaler females have impressed consistently.
At the 2023 Royal Show, Rivervalley Venus, AB1881 was named RAS Gold Cup Supreme Champion Beef Cow on Show, after being crowned Senior Champion Female and Grand Champion Female in the Simmentaler competition. Later in the year, this superb cow took second place in the "Simmentaler - Champion of Asia/Africa" section of the Champion of the World Competition, beaten by just one point.
At last year's Royal Show, Rivervalley also won Junior Champion Female and Reserve Grand Champion Female in the Simmentaler showing with Rivervalley Babe, AB2075.
At the 2022 Royal Show, Rivervalley Jasmin, AB1976 was named RAS Gold Cup Supreme Champion Beef Cow on Show, after being crowned Junior Champion and Grand Champion Female in the Simmentaler showing.
At the 2022 Royal Show, Rivervalley Atlanta, AB2085 was the Simmentaler Reserve Champion Heifer Calf, and in 2019, Rivervalley Frances, AB1874 was crowned Simmentaler Champion Heifer Calf.
Rivervalley's entries this year will attract great interest, and we wish them well!
The Simmentaler/Simbra showing will take place at the Royal Agricultural Exhibition on Sunday 26 May and Monday 27 May. The Interbreed Competition will take place on Tuesday 28 May, followed by the Standard Bank Gold Cup Parade and Awards.
